Jermaine R. “Huggy” Hopkins was born in Newark, New Jersey and began his acting career at the age of 14 when his mother took him to a casting call for the Warner Bros. film Lean on Me, where he played Thomas Sams, a troubled high school student opposite Morgan Freeman. This breakout role launched his career in both film and television.
